I got tired of opening four apps to read one project folder, so I built EasyView_Md
My project folders are a mix of Markdown notes, Word specs, Excel sheets, slides and PDFs. Reading one folder meant jumping between a Markdown edito…

Two things must happen before our server module loads, and a require is all that enforces the order

Ankita v2.6.0: chat through your own ChatGPT tab — no API key, no per-token billing
Every time I've wired an AI companion up to a model, the same bill shows up somewhere: a per-token API key, a cloud sandbox rental, or a second app…

A practical comparison from building with both, covering app size, memory, the backend language, OS access, security, and the trade-offs that only s…
Ankita v2.5.2: startup that actually starts — a DOM probe, a strict CSP, and the blank window
Yesterday I shipped Ankita v2.5.1 and, about forty-six minutes later, v2.5.2 — a hotfix for a bug I couldn't leave standing: the desktop app launche…
Our activation screen asks the local server where the website is, then hardcodes the price anyway
Unactivated, Notifio is one screen: an email field, a token field, a button. It is 130 lines of React in the Electron renderer, and it is the only t…
Two files hold the same listings, and only one of them survives you editing a search
Notifio watches rental search pages from your own machine and tells you when a listing appears that was not there last time. For a long while a find…

Меня достала реклама, и я сделал свой торрент-клиент для Windows
Меня достала реклама в торрент-клиентах. Хотелось открывать программу, выбирать нужные файлы и оставлять загрузку в фоне. Так появился Tern: бесплат…
Encrypted at rest unless it cannot be, and the file itself says which
Notifio's auto-reply feature works by watching you reply to one listing by hand, and then replaying that on future listings. The recording it keeps…
I'm building a companion island for my desktop AI assistant: approvals, a mascot, and a 14px wake strip
I'm building a desktop AI assistant, and it has a permission problem that no amount of prompt engineering fixes. Ankita asks for approval before it…
Ankita is looking for contributors — here's what you'd actually build
I'm Krish, a developer from India. For the past 8 months I've been building Ankita — a free, open-source desktop AI assistant. Terminal + Electron a…

Asking a vision model what and where in the same call makes it worse at both
Handrail takes a screenshot of whatever you are stuck in, answers your question about it, and then draws an arrow on the real control you need to to…
fs.cpSync copied the framework and left every symlink pointing at the cache
Notifio is a desktop app that watches rental search pages and tells you the moment something new appears. It drives a Playwright-managed Chromium in…
One banner per search, not one per listing
Notifio watches rental search pages and tells you when a new listing appears. For most of its life it had exactly one way of telling you: an email,…
Директ Коммандер на Linux: установщик не ставится, а программа работает
Официально Коммандер есть только под Windows и macOS. Установщик под Wine зацикливается намертво, но само приложение запускается — если знать одну д…
I stopped rewriting the same Electron boilerplate — so I packaged it
Every Electron side project starts with the same three weeks. You wire up window controls, and they look wrong next to the OS chrome. You build a th…
Your daily reminder needs three states, not a boolean
I built a checklist that opens itself at 8 am. The hard part wasn't opening it. It was working out when to stop. The version that fails The obvious…
From tomorrow, you’ll never forget to update your to-do checklist again.
I kept forgetting to open my to-do app. I'd write my tasks the night before, feel organised, and then start the next morning without looking at them…

Windows silently stops delivering WH_KEYBOARD_LL hook events when a Chromium window has focus (and the diagnostic hook hides it)
I ship a push-to-talk dictation app for Windows ( VocalCode ). Hold a key, talk, release, text appears at the cursor. The "hold a key" part is a low…
